Dr. Boyce’s new original rock project is called 6 Another. The latest set of music has been described as follows:
Transformation is a rock opera in 4 movements: 1. Road to Normal (Allegro), 2. It Ain’t Over (Andante), 3. Girl in Green (Scherzo), and 4. Hold On (Allegro Moderato). It picks up the story of “natural” man in a state of despair after years of relying on worldly wisdom to obtain love and acceptance. We start to see his ultimate transformation to enlightenment through the spiritual and worldly love of a stranger who becomes his earthly savior. While the 16:00 minute opus rings of spiritual themes, Transformation is by no means Christian rock. Rather, it is classic rock with a modern-edge that is borne of heartbreak and hope, trials and triumph, and passion for a better life. While the final movement, Hold On, leaves our protagonist in a good place, it seems that he still has some unfinished business. We can only hope that the story will be picked-up where it is left off so we can see it to the end. Perhaps the title of the final movement is implication of more to come? If so, we will indeed hold on for more from this San Francisco-based power duo that is producing amazing tones and textures with just 2 instruments and a voice.
About the Band
6 Another is rock & roll duo from San Francisco, California. Ted Boyce sings lead vocals and plays bass which (through a unique process perfected by Boyce) doubles as guitar. Dan Lieberman plays percussion and provides background vocals. On occasion, the duo will perform with a keyboard player who adds color to the already full arrangements.
6 Another – rock music for the sophisticated palate.

Dr. Boyce’s original music rock n roll band, Ted & the StartUp, released their first full-length album on January 28, 2016 containing 13 original tracks composed by Ted and arranged by Ted and the band. Dr. Boyce performs all vocals and bass guitar on the album and even added some performance on keys. Another full-length album is in the conception phase as the band tours to support their debut disc. Don’t be surprised if some of the yet unreleased songs make it onto a live set-list as the band gauges audience reaction and fine-tunes arrangements. Ted would also be pleased to incorporate musical performance with his energetic, entertaining, and informative keynote speeches and workshops. Qualified businesses can also commission original compositions for their private use. The album is available for purchase on iTunes by clicking here. Thomas (TED) Boyce has been playing the bass guitar professionally since high school and recorded his first album as a teenager. Having grown up in America’s epicenter of garage band rock n roll, Gainesville, FL, he has played in historical venues alongside many of Gainesville’s great musicians, including Ken Block of Sister Hazel, Jack Sizemore of the Jason Aldean Band, and Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band. As a college student, he was selected to play bass guitar for a local performance by legendary Motown group the Drifters.
Ted received his formal musical training at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music which he attended on scholarship before leaving to travel the world playing jazz. He later completed his degree in music performance at the University of Florida. His love of rock n roll music brought him back to his roots during the 1990’s. Since 2002 he has fronted two original music projects, the latest of which is TED & the StartUp.
